Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How long have you been in business?

A:  Mark started making jewelry in 1974 and is still going strong over 44 years later.  Mark's sons John and Matt came on board in 1989 and 1991.

Q:  Do you have a store where I can see your silver jewelry?

A:  No, our silver jewelry line is only available online.  We operate from a jewelry studio that is not open to the public.  However, our 14 karat gold Australian opal jewelry line is available in stores and galleries across the US.  See a list of stores on our Australian opal website.

Q:  Is your silver jewelry available in other metals?

A:  Yes, we offer several choices for metal upgrades including Continuum sterling silver, 316 L stainless steel, white and yellow gold, and platinum.  We will need your ring size or sizes for an accurate quote.

Q:  What if I don't know my ring size?

A:  Don't guess!   Go to a local jeweler or two and get sized accurately.  Try to use a sizer that is similar in width to the ring you are going to purchase.  Do not use the paper sizers you can download off the internet or use a string or trace the inside of the ring and measure it.  These methods are not accurate!  An accurate ring size is extremely important when ordering inlay rings as they are difficult to resize once the stones are set.  We depend on you to give us an accurate size and cannot be responsible if your ring does not fit after supplying us with the wrong ring size.  It is best to get the size right the first try!

Q:  How do I get my significant other's ring size and keep it a secret?

A:  That's a tough one.  Unless you can sneak a ring that you know fits them (on the correct finger and hand!) to a jewelry store to get it measured then there really aren't any good options.  Guessing is not an option!  You could purchase the stock ring in the stock size (if it is available) and present it to him or her and return it if it does not fit.  Then go to a jewelry store together to get sized accurately and we will build a matching ring in your size in 4 to 6 weeks.  Not all sample/stock rings are still available for purchase.

Q:  What if I order the wrong size?

A:  If it is only a small amount off (1/4 to 1/2 size) then the ring can be resized using a laser welder.  You should be able to find a local jeweler with a laser welder that can make the adjustment for you.  Your inlay ring is heat sensitive so the traditional torch method will not work.  All bending must be done carefully in the bottom half of the ring to avoid cracking the inlay stones.  We do not have a laser welder.

Q:  How long will it take to make my new jewelry?
A:  Our typical production time is 3 to 6 weeks.  The time varies based on our work load with the spring and summer being our busiest time.  We may be able to rush your order if you have a short deadline.  Please include your due date with your order.  We have never missed a delivery date!

Q:  Do you offer a payment plan?
A:  Yes, you can call and place your order by phone and set up a payment plan.  We will begin work when we have received half of the amount due and will ship the jewelry once the final payment has been made.  Bill Me Later through PayPal is also an option.

Q:  What type of dinosaur does the bone used in your dinosaur bone jewelry come from?
A:  It is difficult to say what specific dinosaur the bone we use came from.  The bone we use isn't in the form of a complete bone but is in big chunks.  The size of the bone suggests that it was once a part of large dinosaur's leg bone or other large bone.  Read more about dinosaur bone on our Stone Information page.

Q:  Do you offer a warranty or guarantee your work?
A:  We guarantee that your jewelry is free of defects when it is shipped to you.  If you receive your new jewelry and notice a problem, send it back and we will take care of the problem.  Unfortunately, we cannot offer a warranty because we cannot control how the customer wears the jewelry or cares for it.  Our jewelry will last a lifetime if worn with common sense and removed before rough activities.  Please read our policies and care instructions.

Q:  What is your return policy?
A:  We have a 10 day return policy for items that are not special orders or made to order in your size.  All items must be in new condition.  Contact us prior to returning any jewelry and please read all policies before placing an order.

Q:  What if I break one of the stones in my ring?
A:  It's not the end of the world!  We can drill out the broken piece and replace it with a new matching one for a reasonable cost.  Just email us a photo or return the ring to us and we will give you an estimate.

Q:  Do you offer a non tarnishing sterling silver?
A:  Yes, we offer a great new sterling silver alloy called Continuum sterling silver.  It is highly tarnish resistant and is much more durable than standard sterling silver.  We highly recommend it for all wedding rings or daily wear jewelry.  It's a small upgrade charge but well worth it.  Stainless steel, gold and platinum are also options if tarnishing is a concern.
